Once a comb is full, it will be capped by wax. The beekeeper gets carefully rid of this wax and is getting the honey out of the combs

​Usually there is a clear sky above the clouds. It takes some effort to get there, but the views are rewarding and offer a fantastic outlook to the mountains. You choose whether or not to hike up from the bottom or take one of the many cable cars to reach a level where hiking becomes a relaxing walk

​This bridge is the connection between Grächen / Gasenried and Zermatt along the Europaweg at a dizzying height. It has been opened on July 29th, 2017 and is 494 m long, 65 cm width and the highest point is 85 m above ground. Passing the bridge is a new experience and pure adventure. The Gornergrat - Zermatt Marathon is one of the finest running events in the Alps. Start is in St. Niklaus at 1’116 m, finish in Zermatt at 1’670 (Half Marathon) or on Riffelberg at 2’585 m (Marathon) – with the option of racing all the way to the top of the Gornergrat at 3’089 m (Ultra Marathon). The course covers 42.195 km and conquers 1’469 meters altitude. One compensation for the grueling run is the breathtaking panorama

The Aletsch Glacier is the largest glacier in the Alps with a length of about 23 km, The whole area, including other glaciers is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch Protected Area, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. It’s a perfect place to take pictures and send them to friends

The region of Gasenried / Grächen has very little rainfall, therefore a water source was in need for the agriculture. “Suonen” (irrigation channels) transport the water from the glacier to the meadows. They are now great places to walk along and enjoy the sound of the water

​Yodeling, flag throwing and playing the alphorn are just as much part of Swiss tradition as cheese and chocolate. Back in the days when there were neither telephones nor any fast and convenient forms of transport, people in mountainous and impassable regions communicated with each other by means such as natural yodeling or the alphorn

​The compelling Five Lakes Walk takes you from Blauherd to Sunnegga, passing by five mountain lakes on the way. You will be captivated by the reflection of the Matterhorn in the waters and by the many colourful alpine flowers around the lakes. Leisee and Grünsee lakes are great spots for a refreshing dip
